How to make your perfume last longer: 7 tips that actually work

By Rogue Borough

A great scent should stay with you – and stay with everyone you pass. These seven habits help any eau de parfum last longer on skin.

1. Apply after a shower

Warm, clean skin holds fragrance better. Spray right after showering, once your skin is dry.

2. Moisturise first

Fragrance fades faster on dry skin. An unscented moisturiser gives the scent something to hold on to.

3. Target your pulse points

Wrists, the sides of the neck, behind the ears and the inside of the elbows are warmer, which helps the scent develop and project.

4. Don’t rub your wrists together

Rubbing creates friction and heat that can break down the top notes faster. Spray, then let it dry on its own.

5. Spray your clothes – carefully

Fabric holds scent for a long time. A light mist on a scarf or jacket keeps it around all day. Test on a hidden spot first, as some fabrics can mark.

6. Store your bottle right

Heat, light and humidity break fragrance down. Keep your bottle out of the bathroom and away from windows – a drawer or cupboard is ideal.

7. Carry a travel size

For long days and late nights, a small bottle lets you top up when you need it. Selected Rogue Borough scents come in a 15 ml travel size.
